About This Place

Located in the heart of Tucson, Roma Imports is a true Italian gem that masterfully blends the roles of a grocery store, deli, catering supplier, and a cozy Italian eatery. This family-owned establishment offers an authentic slice of Italy through its thoughtfully curated selection of products and dishes, making it an indispensable destination for lovers of Italian cuisine and culture alike.

What sets Roma Imports apart is its unique combination of offerings. From a wide variety of frozen and refrigerated Italian staples—such as their celebrated assortment of ravioli—to an extensive deli counter boasting quality meats and cheeses, the store invites customers to explore the best of Italy’s culinary heritage from the comfort of Tucson. Whether you're on the hunt for rich olive oils, luscious fresh pasta, or specialty items like mild peppers bursting with flavor, Roma Imports is a treasure trove of delights.

Beyond the grocery aisles, the intimate restaurant seating in the back offers a warm and inviting atmosphere perfect for savoring freshly made sandwiches and meals. Customers repeatedly praise the “Roma Special” sandwich, which layers robust Italian meats, creamy cheeses, and a generous drizzle of oil and vinegar on freshly baked bread that practically melts in your mouth. The homemade pesto, especially, delivers a burst of vibrant, herbaceous goodness — a clear testament to the care and passion infused into every creation here.

Dolores Amos shares her delight, recalling how Roma Imports evokes the nostalgic spirit of the Italian stores she grew up visiting in California. The authentic frozen ravioli options she tried left a lasting impression, described simply but enthusiastically as “Bellissimo.” Similarly, Irish4life’s discovery of the sandwich table seating underscored the convenience and charm of the spot, praising the hearty, flavor-packed Roma Special that “did not disappoint.”

The heartwarming service and genuine care shine through in every visit at Roma Imports. Kristin Knight praises not only the exceptional food but the uplifting, family-like vibe radiated by the staff, especially Annie, who makes every guest feel welcomed and valued. This kind of personal touch is what transforms a simple meal into an experience that stays with you long after you leave.

For newcomers and locals alike, Roma Imports is an authentic, small-scale treasure—part marketplace, part neighborhood deli, and part cozy eatery—where you can find clean, high-quality ingredients and freshly made meals that reveal the soul of Italian cooking. As Christine Luu points out, it is this honest, family-run atmosphere combined with rich, traditional flavors that makes it a beloved destination. Dinah Sattley’s enthusiasm encapsulates it perfectly: the food tastes amazing, and while prices reflect the quality and care put into the offerings, the overall experience is worth every penny.

If you’re in Tucson and craving something more than just a meal or a quick grocery run, Roma Imports invites you to dive into Italy’s culinary heart with every bite, along with friendly faces and a community feel that’s truly rare to find. This isn’t just a store or a restaurant; it’s a celebration of Italian heritage brought vibrantly to life in the desert Southwest.

I grew up going to Italian stores in California. I’m so pleasantly surprised and thrilled that Tucson has a good one in Roma Imports. They have a wide selection of both frozen and refrigerated foods, a deli, and a little restaurant seating atmosphere in the back. They have several different types of frozen ravioli, which I have tried and loved. Bellissimo.

First time customer and wanted to see what it offered. It's rather small but have tables in the back to have lunch. Has many things you would expect in this kind of store from olive oil to noodles and lots more. I bought the Roma Special and it did not disappoint. I went with Mild peppers on the sandwich. The bread alone was so good. Lots of oil and vinegar, four meats, cheese and the works. Absolutely a beautiful sandwich. I could only eat half as it was a big sandwich for $12. Also purchased some Italian olives stuff with gorganzola cheese. Taste like Italy. Also they have my favorite Greek olive oil from a place lived near to when I was living there back in the 80's!

First time in Tucson and I saw this place advertised online before, and I love to check out a local family spot. You know it’s good when it’s literally a deli supermarket and sells food. They sold so many Italian ready made goods and authentic produce. The sandwiches we had were very good wish we got a chance to try more items!

Roma Imports is one of those Tucson gems you almost want to keep secret, but the food is too good not to talk about. The place is tucked away in a hidden part of town and the parking can get crazy, but honestly that just proves how many people know this spot is worth it. Inside, it feels like stepping into someone’s Italian kitchen. The smells hit you first, then the colors, then the trays of fresh and pre-made dishes that make you want one of everything. The variety is wild. Pasta, sauces, sandwiches, salads, desserts, all made with real care. Every bite tastes like it came from a family recipe that’s been loved for generations. You can eat there, take it home, or enjoy it right in the car if you can’t wait. No judgment. The food is that good. It’s authentic, comforting, and the kind of place that makes you smile before you even place your order. Roma Imports is the real deal and easily one of my new favorite Tucson stops. This is a great Italian market. We tried the chicken parm & eggplant parm subs and both were fantastic. If you really like sauce, I'd ask for extra. Their cannolis are also great.

Very easy access, parking may be a bit challenging when busy. Very polite personnel. Very clean and well organized market, deli and restaurant. Place your meal order at the counter and then enjoy a seat in their casual setting, with a beautiful mural on the back wall. The sandwich bread was great, sauce tasty, and nice serving size. But the chicken was dry and the meatballs where just okay. Both sandwiches would have benefitted from more sauce. It was fun to wander the market and deli to pick out some treasures to take home and be creative with making our own meals.
